In 2010, the Henry M. Jackson Foundation inaugurated a new lecture series to honor and link two men whose careers were interwoven for many decades. The Henry M. Jackson / William J. Van Ness Lectures on Leadership will recognize the remarkable qualities that its immediate past president, William J. Van Ness, Jr. and Senator Jackson demonstrated in their decades of service. Both exemplify the good judgment, integrity, and character inherent in true leadership. The Jackson / Van Ness Lectures on Leadership will be designed to attract lecturers who will showcase the qualities of leadership mentioned above and which are highlighted in the Foundation's 25th anniversary publication, "The Nature of Leadership: Lessons from an Exemplary Statesman."
